Choosing Plants for Aquarium

Aquariums which are embedded with plants always appeal well. Aquarium plants not only enhance the beauty of an aquarium but it is very useful too. Plants are not only use for mere decoration but they have a role to play too. Fish are more contented and relaxed around the plants. Plants in an aquarium act as a useful component as for the very well known fact that plant produces oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide

Placing real plants in aquarium needs proper care as dead and decaying parts should be removed regularly. Live aquarium plants can develop snails and hydra which can be harmful for the fish.

Real plants need some kind of nutrients and fertilizers. An aquarium with real plants more light without it plants would not be able to produce oxygen and even die.
The other option can be use of artificial plants. They are much easier to maintain than a real plant. While choosing artificial plants for aquariums one should go by the silk plants than the plastic plants. As silk plants are easier to clean than plastic plants.

Real plants check the growth of the algae. Unfavourable conditions within the aquarium will first affects the plant which act as an indicator that fishes would be affected soon.

While placing a planted aquarium in home one has to be careful while opting plants as some of the plants are sold as aquatic plant but they are actually not. As they look good but die within a month.
A combination of artificial and real plant in an aquarium proves to be a good option.

Reef Aquarium

An aquarium enhances beauty of a home. A fish tank can be of different sizes. A larger fish tank can acquire more amounts of plants, water and fish comparatively to a smaller aquarium. A reef aquarium is one of the most popular fish tank. It is also famous for living reef in the tank.

Reef tank requires more care then a normal fish tank. Reef tank is comparatively different from normal aquarium. The water system in the reef tank is an imitation of nature in a way that water keeps on flowing.

The components of reef tank are:

Aquarium Filtration Unit: the filtration of reef aquarium comes from the usage of large amounts of live rocks. Deep sand beds are often used to raise the biological filtration. In aqua culture rocks used are added by protein skimmers and it resembles the natural occurrence of corals in the sea. Chemical filtration in form of activated carbon is used. It helps to avoid discolouration of water and it helps to remove dissolved matter and to help the reef system.

Aquarium Lighting: Lighting in the reef tank is a complex task as aquarium coral requires light to perform photosynthesis process which produces sugar that is used by corals as food. With advancement in technologies a new technology in aquarium lighting called Lightmitting diodes (LEDs) are now available that balances the needs of live rocks and other supplies required in a fish tank.

Aquarium Temperature Control: Reef tanks are kept normally between temperature 25 – 27’ C. Depending upon the location and place of the aquarium one has to install AC’s and heaters.

Aquarium Water Flow Mechanism: reef coral requires helps in cleaning fish tank water and removing waste. To provide clean and healthy water for coral growth the water flow mechanism is used. Different flow rate is required by different coral. It is advisable to consult a reef aquarium expert to know what is to be used.
Reef tank is practically appealing, attractive, pleasing and attention-grabbing.
